The Union Budget app by NIC (National Informatics Centre) can finally be downloaded directly via the Google Play Store or the Union Budget website.
Under British Colonial rule back in April 1860, the first Union Budget of India was introduced by Finance Minister James Wilson. Later, after 87 years, on November 26, 1947, the first Finance Minister of Independent India, Mr. R.K. Shanmugham Chetty, did the honour.
The Union Budget is the blueprint of the government's revenue and expenditure for a fiscal year starting from April 1 of the current year until March 31 of the future year. Based on Article 112 of the Indian Constitution, it is a detailed and in-depth estimation of the sources of income or revenue and estimated or budgeted expenses for a financial year.
Budget are categorized into two parts:
Revenue Budget: Revenue budget contains the government's revenue receipts and expenditure.
Capital Budget: It comprises of the government's capital receipts and payments.
Steps to Download Union Budget Application from Play Store & Union Budget Official Website:
- Click on the Google Play Store on the mobile, and under the search window, type Union Budget NIC (beware of the fake applications with similar names). Or another way is to visit the Union Budget Official Website (www.indiabudget.gov.in), and on the right-hand corner there is a pop-up announcing Download Mobile App. Click on the download mobile app pop-up, and it will take you to the same via the Google Pay Store.

- Post-downloading, one needs to enter by clicking the Union Budget icon on the mobile platform and clicking Enter. As the Union Budget for this fiscal year is yet to be presented (we can expect the same by February 21), users will get a notification over the platform that "Union Budget Documents will be available after the presentation of the Union Budget by the Hon'ble Finance Minister of India in the Parliament".
As this platform is new and under enhancement stage we shall expect old Budget reports available over this platforms in coming days.
